What is a Confined Space?
A confined space is an enclosed or partially enclosed area not designed for continuous human occupancy. It has limited access or ventilation and may contain hazards such as toxic gases, oxygen deficiency, flammable vapours, flooding, or risk of entrapment.
Under Australian WHS Regulations, anyone required to enter or work in a confined space must hold appropriate certification and operate under an issued permit system.
About This Course

- Safety, injury prevention, and maintenance personnel
- Engineers, risk managers, and mine managers
- Cable installers and transport personnel
- Contractors undertaking non-process work on industrial or construction sites
You will gain the knowledge and skills to:
- Identify what constitutes a confined space and apply key terminology
- Understand the regulations and legislative requirements governing confined space entry and work
- Identify hazards and emergencies and implement appropriate control measures
- Conduct risk assessments and apply for a confined space entry permit
What to Expect on the Day
You will complete two confined space entry scenarios at our Wangara training venue, demonstrating how to enter, exit, and work safely according to an issued permit. This includes inspecting and selecting appropriate PPE, operating atmospheric testing and monitoring devices, and conducting routine servicing of all confined space equipment and gear.
